The Cabell Midland Leo Club is currently recruiting new members for the club. We are especially interested in Freshman and Sophomores who can be in the club for two or three years. The club is also currently working on setting up a "Strides Walk" to help send diabetic kids to Camp Kno-Koma this summer. It is also collecting money for the "Leader Dog Program." Leader dogs, which are expensive to train, are used by the blind to help navigate better.
The Cabell Midland Leo Club would encourage you to support their used eyeglasses drive by bringing them to Mr. Bowsher's room H228.
The club is also collecting used injet and laser printer cartridges to be recycled at Office Depot, which gives $2 for each cartridge, with a maximum of 20 per month. This money can be used to provide school supplies for needy students at CMHS.
The club welcomes new members. If you have a desire to serve your school and your community, then the Cabell Midland Leo Club wants you as a member. Remember that we meet the first and third Monday after school (3:15 p.m.) and the second and fourth Monday before school (7:15 a.m) in the Alumni Room.
Planned activities include collecting eyeglasses, conducting a food drive for Christmas, purchasing non-perishable food items to be distributed in food baskets by the Barboursville Lions Club, walking in a Strides Walk for Camp Kno-Koma, collecting money for the Leader Dog Program For the Blind, purchasing winter coats for needy CMHS students, and collecting used printer cartridges to be recycled at Home Depot. Other activities are yet to be determined by members of the club.
These three Leos worked the Lions Arts and Crafts Fair at the Huntington Civic Arena on December 3,4, & 5, 2010. Their three raffles netted the club $200.75. They are to be commended for their work on this project.
